Students concluded their performances of CLUE on Saturday, Sept. 26 and 27. To prepare for the big nights, student actors had pre-show routines to help them get mentally, vocally, and physically ready for the shows whether that be stretching, vocal warm ups, or simply breathing.
“Personally, I have to put my shoes on in a certain order, so I put my left shoe on and then my right shoe on. It gets me in the mindset that it’ll go great,” Senior Adele Milligan said.
Students were also very committed to their roles as they spent an average of three hours practicing their roles after school. Additionally, they would practice their lines during the weekends and their free time. Some students even take their role and become their role including Senior Heidi Nance who dyed her hair red to match with her character Miss Scarlet.
“I have been waiting to dye my hair for so long and I took the first excuse I got and dyed it red.” Nance said.
These student actors were filled with mixed emotions about the play. Some were thrilled while others were nervous or anxious but all students were very excited to participate.
“I’m really excited,” Milligan said. “I really feel like this character has helped me bring out a lot of things. I’m really grateful for the show and sad for it to be over.”
This last Sion play production was extra special for the seniors.
“I’m so sentimental,” Nance said. “It’s so crazy to me because I started at the end of my sophomore year and just totally fell in love with it and now it’s the end. It’s crazy.”
Students looked forward to acting in the play with their fellow students. Whether they had pre-show nerves or pure excitement, they were ready to have a great performance. Students were also very ecstatic about certain scenes.
“I love when I get to slap Miss Peacock,” Nance said. “I also love the very end of Summer’s death, even though I just stand there, it’s so fun to get to watch and react to it.”
