Costume Crisis

Actress Emma Stone’s custom Louis Vuitton gown split near her waist, appearing unzipped as she claimed her award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Stone won the award for her role as Bella Baxter in “Poor  Things”, beating out actress Lily Gladstone who played  Mollie Burkhart in “Killers of the Flower Moon. This was Stone’s second career Academy Award. Stone maintained composure despite the wardrobe malfunction, joking about the incident at the microphone. “Oh boy, my dress is broken,” Stone said. “I think it happened during.”

Couple of the Night

Among all the individuals who attend the Oscars, sometimes a pair comes in and just stands out. This Oscras, it was musician Jon Batiste and his wife Suleika Jaouad Batiste who shone. Jon dressed in a plum suit with a diamond necklace, a much more interesting choice than most male attendees, while Suleika donned a golden gown with striking sleeves. Suleika’s dress also had an intricate painting of Jon conducting a symphony as a nod to the film “American Symphony” they both starred in which was nominated this Oscars. The dress was designed by actress Angelina Jolie. The scene was also especially impactful as this Award season was the first Suleika was able to attend, as when Jon was nominated for the Grammys in 2022, Suleika was recovering from a bone mabone marrow transplant after a relapse of leukemia. “After being in treatment for the last two years, I have a real love-hate relationship with clothes,” Suleika said. “But Angelina made me feel so beautiful and so seen that my eyes kept welling up during our fitting,”
