Sophomore Ava Rawson speaks to the student body, hoping to gain their vote for Executive Vice President. Rawson will be the Executive Vice President for the 2017-2018 school year.

The results of next year’s executive student council were announced at the end of the day yesterday after the student body listened to the candidates’ speeches and casted their votes. Junior Carolyn Dickey was elected as the 2017-2018 school year’s Executive President and sophomore Ava Rawson was elected Executive Vice President. Freshman Kyleigh Smith was also elected as Executive Secretary.

Rawson is looking forward to the many STUCO-sponsored events that will be held throughout the 2017-2018 school year. Rawson stated that she is most excited about planning and participating in next year’s freshman mixer.

“I was just really happy to have had the opportunity to run,” Rawson said.

Dickey is also thankful for this nomination and the opportunities that this position will bring her next year. She anticipates a great year and is excited to lead what she called “the best class to ever walk the halls of Sion.”

“It is such an honor, honestly. Both of the girls I ran against are so passionate along with myself and I knew no matter what, we were in good hands,” Dickey said. “I am happy with the results and I can’t wait to start next year strong and lead my class.”
